Lower Farm is situated behind the Newbury Racecourse and nestles between the Thatcham Reedbed Nature Reserve and the BBOWT Bowdown Woods Reserve and just below the Greenham Common National Park. The hide is open to the general public 24 hours a day and over-looks one of the many restored gravel workings in the area. (Currently the hide has not been subject to vandalism, due in many ways to it's remote location, but vandalism may result in the hide becoming locked, and only opened during set times).

The best times for using the hide are any early mornings from late August/early September through to late March/early April

Would all visitors please sign their name in the log book and please record your sightings in the folder provided, a glance through this will show you the variety of species that have been seen throughout the previous weeks. This folder is to there to help the club record both the usage of the hide, and the number of species recorded, these records can be used to help protect the site from potential development!

Species include; Common Terns, Little Ringed Plovers, Redshank, Greenshank, Oystercatcher, Marsh Harrier, Peregrine and Goldern Plover (to name just a few!)
