Rules

1. The Club shall be called the Newbury District Ornithological Club.

2. The object of the Club shall be to promote interest in matters ornithological by arranging lectures and field meetings. To co-operate where possible in ornithological enquiries run by other societies, and such other activity as may be deemed desirable. To maintain a permenant record of items of interest occurring in the Newbury District and to publish at convenient intervals a report and/or newsletter. The area covered by the Clubs report will be that specified periodically in the report. (Currently an approxiamte 10 Mile radius from Newbury Museum)

3. The Club shall consist of ordinary, family, junior and honorary members. A committee, which shall consist of the officers, namely; Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon.Secretary, Hon.Treasurer, Hon.Editor and not less than five but not more than eight members-

It shall not be permissible for the Chairman or other officers to occupy more than one position within the Club except as a temporary expedient such as might be caused by illness or extended holiday. Co-opted members are not entitled to vote in committee.

4. The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held within the Newbury area, early in December each year, for the purpose of:

5. The annual subscription shall become payable to the Hon.Treasurer on January 1st each year. Any member whose subscription remains in arrears for one year will be held to have resigned but may be re-instated by the committee on payment of arrears.

6. The committee may determine the membership of a person if, in their opinion the continuance of such membership be detrimental to the Club.

7. The use of tape lures on club outings in the breeding season is prohibited. Club members using tape lures should recognise statutory legal and B.T.O. codes of practice along with primary consideration for the welfare of the birds.

8. Members are invited to inform the Editor as soon as possible of the occurrance of any rare or interesting bird; such information to be treated as confidential if so desired. With reference to Rule 2, the Committee shall be responsible for the compilation of a newsletter and/or report based on the recommendations as laid down in the Club's "Organisation of a Bird Report".

9. In the event of the Club being dissolved, all monies to the credit of the club after payment of all outstanding debts shall be placed in a trust fund, or donated to such appropriate orinthological societies as shall be decided by the committee. Should there be a deficit, this shall be met by the existing paid up members.

10. Neither the Club or the Committee shall accept any responsibility for any injury sustained by any member of the Club, or damage to, or theft of any members' property whilst taking part in any on the Club's activities.

11. No alterations shall be made to any of these rules except at the Annual General Meeting, or at a special meeting called for the purpose, notice of which shall be given in writing to all members at least fourteen days previously. Members wishing to propose any alterations to the Rules shall give notice to the Hon.Secretary not less than seven days prior to the date of the meeting. All such alterations are to be inserted in the minutes. The quorum necessary for a general meeting or a special meeting shall be twelve and for a committee meeting three, plus at least three Officers.

12. Any dispute in the interpretation of the Club's Rules shall be decided by the committee.
